Salar de uyini is the world’s largest salt flat covering more than 10000 square kilometers, located in South west Bolivia.
The salary de uyini was formed as a result of transformation between several prehistoric lakes.
A BRIEF HISTORY
The salar de uyini occupies what was once the deepest part of an ernomous lake, known as Lago Tauca, which covered the southern Altiplano until 12000 years ago. The Lago Tauca which reached the depth of 70 meters existed for a thousand years and covered the area now occupied by Lago poopo, Salary de Coipasa and the Salar De Uyini.
In The dry season, the surface of the Salar De Uyini becomes extremely dry and hard, While in the rainy season it becomes smooth and reflective. “Walking on This wonder land, One may forget which way is up and which is down”
